You make a good point regarding the Hurt Locker, but it was an excellent movie. It had a few inaccuracies, but overall really good. I’m glad it won. I was hoping for either that or District 9. I knew District 9 would be a longshot, though. I found it more visually impressive than Avatar in all honesty because they were able to blend CG and Real World so effectively.
Exactly they do it for the Emmys and the Grammys so why can’t they do it for the oscars!? They would get the same recognition and tv ratings as other award shows if they appealed more to the audience watching.
The hurte locker did get that vote in the bag though because it wasn’t all that great.
Man I’m way surprised you didn’t tear into some of those actors or actresses award speeches, especially mo’niques.

It’s on the public’s TV dude. That makes it OUR ceremony as well. Every year the vast majority has the SAME complaints. They can totally honor the industry and add some of these awards to the other ceremony each year. Why aren’t you complaining about that?
They have a second ceremony each year where secondary Oscars are given. Why not have ALL THE OSCARS given that one night on one ceremony?
I didn’t say, you said they didn’t deserve an award i said how can you make comments on on the subject when you have not seen the any of the films in question. do agree the show is way to long and could be cut by shrinking the acceptance speeches and cutting a lot of the introduction and the red carpet bullshit , but not at the cost of the minor awards because there in place to open up the industry for less well known film makers with talent

Did I ever say any of those people shouldn’t get Oscars? No.
They could be honored at a separate ceremony and help get the show down to a reasonable length AND give the VAST MAJORITY of the audience what they actually tuned in to see. Everyone complains EVERY YEAR about how long the show is. that can be remedied EASILY by cutting out the awards that 95% of the audience could give a shit less about.

ok how can you comment on the oscars when you hav’nt seen the films, and all the minor awards are what the oscars are about, its an industry award show not a mtv bullshit award, its there to honnor the work done by the filmmakers not famous faces that always have the limelight
i don’t see how james cameron was expecting to win with avatar. sure it was fun but definitely not ‘film of the year’ material.

Avatar is a great film. It’s story is a bit eh, but visuals and the experience is amazing. But in terms of it being “The best film of the year” its not really that at all.
true. I was hoping that District 9 would’ve changed that though. Because it’s rare to see a film where you actually sympathize with the aliens(maybe a few others like ET) as well as attribute real life issues that happen in the world. Especially in parts like South Africa. I mean don’t get me wrong. i thought Hurt Locker was a superb movie, but nothing like District 9.
And don’t get me started about Sandra Bullock getting an oscar. I mean talk about promoting mediocrity. Psh
Yeah. They should have not included all of those fillers. They could have leave room for more tributes such as Farrah Fawcett, who didn’t even receive one at the Oscars. I thought that was sad though.
